CHINO HILLS, Calif. (KABC) -- A brush fire erupted in steep terrain at the Chino Hills State Park Thursday afternoon, scorching 48 acres.

Fire crews responded to the vegetation fire, dubbed the Bane Fire, at the Elinvar entrance of the state park at about 3:30 p.m.

As of 7:30 p.m., the fire was 50 percent contained.

The fire was "burning in light to medium fuels," according to the Chino Valley Fire District. No structures were threatened.

Officials say the forward spread of the fire has stopped, and full containment was expected by 8 a.m. Friday.
