Crews get handle on water main break threatening Hollywood Hills homes
Crews were able to contain a water main break threatening several homes in the Hollywood Hills.

HOLLYWOOD HILLS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Crews were able to stem the majority of flow from a water main break that threatened several Hollywood Hills homes Sunday, as it sent 1,000 gallons per minute gushing into a neighborhood.

Los Angeles Fire Department officials reported the break on an 8-inch water main in the 3300 block of Oak Glen Drive just before noon Sunday.

No significant structural damage or injuries were reported, but fire officials said six businesses in the 3300 block of Cahuenga Boulevard were visibly impacted, including Lousey Nitpickers.

One home's garage was also impacted, officials said.

LAFD dump trucks sent sandbags to address immediate needs, but no formal evacuations were in place.

Southbound lanes of Cahuenga Boulevard were closed as crews began to cleanup the mess created by the water main break.

Officials reported the hillside was not compromised by the rushing water.
