LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A driver wanted on suspicion of reckless driving was taken into custody after leading Los Angeles police in a pursuit across city streets Tuesday afternoon.
The pursuit began around 3:40 p.m. in South Los Angeles and continued into Lincoln Heights and Chinatown.
The suspect then turned around and headed south toward downtown Los Angeles, leading police across surface streets near Alameda and Los Angeles streets.
He ran a red light and crashed into a white Lexus sedan near Main and Aliso streets and then attempted to flee on foot. Officers quickly surrounded the suspect and tackled him to the ground.

The impact of the crash caused the suspect's SUV to jump a curb and crash into a fence surrounding the 101 Freeway overpass.
A male driver and a female passenger in the Lexus were treated for minor injuries by paramedics.
