Ezell Ford shooting: Protesters express outrage
Protesters in South Los Angeles voiced their outrage Thursday over the police shooting of Ezell Ford 10 days ago.

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Protesters in South Los Angeles voiced their outrage Thursday over the police shooting of Ezell Ford 10 days ago.

About 100 people gathered at Augustus High School. Many of them say they identify with the several black men killed in recent police shootings, including Ford and Michael Brown in Missouri.

Ford, 25, was fatally shot in a struggle with two gang-detail police officers.

Several organizations were involved in the march. They wanted to give students the opportunity to voice their frustrations with how they feel police treat those in neighborhoods just like theirs, and a lack of justice.

"Please think and please feel the pain and the anguish some of these families are going through, and that a lot of other families have went through the same thing, and please don't let it be yours next," said Gabriel Hercules with Brotherhood Crusade.

In downtown Los Angeles, members of the Coalition for Community Control over the Police demonstrated at the court house. They want District Attorney Jackie Lacey to file charges against the officers involved in Ford's shooting and others killed in officer-involved shootings.

Two members of the group even went up to Lacey's office to speak to her, but said they felt very dismissed. The DA's office told Eyewitness News that Lacey is out of the office this week, and that the group had not set up an appointment.

Meantime, the LAPD said they will release the names of the officers involved in Ford's shooting once they feel the officers' safety is not in jeopardy.
