Family holds candlelight vigil for OC woman missing since Valentine's Day

IRVINE, Calif. (KABC) -- Almost 200 people turned out at Mike Ward Community Park in Irvine Friday night for a candlelight vigil held for a woman who has been missing since Valentine's Day.

It has been 34 days since Erica Alonso went missing and her friends and family came out to pray and show they are not going to give up on her.

"Please keep praying for us and keep praying for Erica," her mother said.

The 27-year-old has been missing since Feb. 14, when she went out with her ex-boyfriend. The two got into a fight and Alonso left in the middle of the night from her ex's home. She hasn't been seen since.

"I want my sister to come back home. Her birthday is coming up and we all want to be together again," her sister, Dinora Gomez, said.

Emotions were high as family members rose to speak to the crowd of people at the park. Her niece Kylie Castille said Alonso is her best friend and asked the public to continue to look for her.

Alonso's white Honda Civic went missing that night as well, and it has not been found. It is a mystery that has left her family with so many questions, but they maintain hope.

"It has been over a month now and with every day that goes by it gets a little bit harder. We are very optimistic and hopeful that my sister is alive wherever she is and we will keep searching for her," her brother, Isaac Alonso, Jr., said.

The search continues for Alonso and anyone with information is asked to contact the Orange County Sheriff's Department at (714) 647-7055. A reward is being offered, but the exact amount will be announced next week.
