SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- A family moving from California to Arizona had their U-Haul containing all their belongings stolen at a hotel in Santa Ana.
The Beaumont family was staying at the La Quinta Inn in Santa Ana for the evening while traveling to their new dream home in Arizona when they awoke to their U-Haul missing.
"Everything we own is gone now, we don't have anything left. Just to have everything taken away, we feel very violated, it's just very hard to have nothing," Kavita Beaumont said.
The family, who was moving from Sacramento, double-checked the U-Haul before calling it a night.
"We actually went out at 12 o'clock at night to check on the truck, and it was still there. Got up at 5:30 this morning and looked out the window and it was gone. At first we couldn't believe it. Don't know how they got it out of the spot," Ryan Beaumont said.
Ryan and Kavita Beaumont, who were moving with their 2-year-old son and 1-month-old daughter, said they don't care about the items that can be replaced. They care about the pictures and family heirlooms they're desperate to get back.
"All of our personal mementos and everything are gone forever," Kavita Beaumont said. "Our wedding album is gone, everything, all our personal things that we won't be able to replace are gone."
The U-Haul truck had Arizona plates with the number AG38205 on it.
The hotel didn't have security cameras in the parking lot. Santa Ana police said they were investigating the theft.
