WHITTIER, Calif. (KABC) -- A female student was found dead in a Whittier College dorm room on Thursday, according to officials.
Whittier police said they responded to Johnson Hall at Whittier College at about 4:30 p.m. for an unresponsive student. The student was pronounced dead at the scene when emergency crews arrived.
The school told ABC7 the woman was found by a campus safety officer in a single bedroom inside the dorm. The parents of the student have been notified, according to school officials. Friends of the student identified her to ABC7 as Margo Latif.
Police said an investigation is underway, but there did not appear to be any signs of foul play. Both the school and police stated there was not a threat to the campus. A cause of death has yet to be determined.
School officials stated that classes were canceled Thursday evening and it would later be determined if classes would resume on Friday. Students at Johnson Hall were offered other housing options while police conducted their investigation.
