Garden Grove intruder shot, killed by police
A suspect was shot and killed by Garden Grove police after he talked his way into a couple's home, pulled out a knife and threatened to kill a woman.

GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspect was shot and killed by Garden Grove police after he talked his way into a couple's home, pulled out a knife and threatened to kill a woman.

The incident occurred shortly after at 8 a.m., when police say the suspect forced his way into a home on the 9900 block of Aldgate Avenue. Authorities say the man asked to be let inside, claiming to residents that he was being chased.

Once he made his way inside, investigators say the suspect pulled a knife and threatened to kill a female resident. Authorities said a male resident was armed with a shotgun, but the suspect stabbed him in the right arm.

Garden Grove police officers arrived on scene and shot the suspect. The suspect was transported to UCI Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The male resident was transported to Garden Grove Medical Center to be treated for his stab wound. He was listed in stable condition.

No officers were injured. Investigators don't know if drugs or alcohol may have been a factor. At this point, the motive remains a mystery.
