LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Commuters will no longer have to worry about carrying change now that all 26 municipal transit agencies in Los Angeles County accept TAP cards as fare.
The reloadable card includes a computer chip that tracks fares to ensure payments are made to the appropriate transit agencies.
The card costs $2 online and at grocery stores, and it costs $1 at transit station vending machines. The program to use cards cost the county $260 million to start, but many riders said the change will make a difference in their travel.
User can access the TAP website at www.taptogo.net to add value to their cards, buy passes, apply for reduced fares or receive a replacement card.
