Long Beach City College safe after shooting
An officer-involved shooting occurred Thursday at Long Beach City College, Pacific Coast Campus, police said.

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- An officer-involved shooting occurred Thursday at Long Beach City College, Pacific Coast Campus, police said.

A man and another person were arguing on a campus parking lot around 5:30 p.m. When police officers went over to question him, he took off running, carrying a backpack and a gun, Long Beach police said.

Officers chased the suspect through an automotive classroom and then back outside, where the suspect allegedly shot at an officer. The officer returned fire and wounded the suspect. He was taken into custody.

The suspect is a student at Long Beach City College. The other person involved in the argument left the scene. It is unclear what they were discussing.

Pacific Coast Campus is located near the Pacific Coast Highway and Orange Avenue.
