Police say the dog was dumped on the side of the road, in a metal cage covered in plastic on March 9th.

WILLOW GROVE, Pa. -- Police made an arrest in the torture and death of a puppy, whose remains were found inside a crate sealed with plastic and tape earlier this month.

Authorities said 20-year-old Charles McCafferty IV of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, the animal's owner, is now facing animal cruelty charges.

The female Pit Bull Terrier, believed to be between six months and one year old, was found inside a metal crate that was wrapped in plastic and sealed with tape on March 9.

Police said pieces of drywall were used as the bedding for the crate.

A necropsy found the puppy was seriously underweight and died from suffocation.

The Upper Dublin Township Police Department posted a picture of the crate on their Facebook page.

A $5,000 reward was offered by PETA for information leading to an arrest. So far, there has been no word on if that reward was claimed.
