Man arrested for killing 1 man, stabbing ex-girlfriend
Teodoro Bernal Nunez, 38, was arrested for allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend in the chest and killing another man in Santa Ana, police said.

SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was found dead in Santa Ana and a woman was kidnapped and stabbed by that same suspect early Saturday morning, police said.

Authorities received a call around 1:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of S. Oak Street and found a male victim stabbed to death at the scene. During the investigation, witnesses told police the suspect stabbed a woman and dragged her into his car before speeding off.

Police believe a sword may have been used in the stabbing, but they have not recovered the weapon.

Brea Police Department officers initially pulled the suspect's vehicle over for a traffic stop and then detained him and brought the 38-year-old woman to a local hospital with a severe stab wound to the chest, according to Santa Ana police.

Santa Ana police arrested Teodoro Bernal Nunez, 38, on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, false imprisonment and violation of a court order.

Officers said that Nunez had previously dated the woman and had been subject to an active court order restraining him from contact with her.

Neighbors in the area said a woman had rented the home and moved in a few months ago. Police had been called to the home around 6 p.m. Friday before returning early Saturday morning.

They also said they heard shouting just before police arrived the second time.

"All I heard was either talking or just loud voices and my dog was barking so we told him to knock it off. We went to sleep and then a few minutes later the police surrounded the whole neighborhood," Channie Lim said. "There was crying out loud, shouting and stuff and so that woke us up."

Anyone with more information was asked to contact the Santa Ana Police Department.
