SHERMAN OAKS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man was killed after colliding into a parked semi-truck on the right shoulder of the northbound 405 Freeway in Sherman Oaks Friday morning, officials said.
The incident occurred near the 101 Freeway around 7:50 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The victim's car caught on fire following the crash.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The semi-truck was empty and parked on the right shoulder due to mechanical problems, Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The CHP is leading the ongoing investigation.
