Man killed in Skid Row officer-involved shooting identified
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The homeless man who was killed in an officer-involved shooting on Skid Row was positively identified as 43-year-old Charly Leundeu Keunang, Los Angeles coroner officials confirmed.
Keunang died of multiple gunshot wounds following an altercation with police in front of the Union Rescue Mission in downtown Los Angeles. Police were responding to a robbery call on Sunday and said Keunang became combative and appeared to reach for an officer's weapon.

Los Angeles police initially identified him as French national Charley Saturmin Robinet. French officials, however, denied that he was a citizen. It turned out Keunang had stolen Robinet's identity and had been convicted for an armed bank robbery in Thousand Oaks under that name.
When immigration officials attempted to deport him, he said he was from Cameroon and revealed his true name.
On the streets, Keunang was known as "Africa."
