COMPTON, Calif. (KABC) -- A man is accused of shooting and killing his younger brother during a dispute at their mother's house in Compton on Sunday, sheriff's officials said.

Investigators were called to a home in the 2400 block of West Tichenor Street shortly before 5 p.m.

According to Lt. John Corina, the two brothers got into a fist fight. The older brother, who is 44, got a gun and shot his 28-year-old brother, identified by friends as Davion Branch. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Corina said it was not immediately known what the dispute was about. Homicide detectives said family members were in the backyard at the time and witnessed the shooting.

The older brother has been arrested. His name has not been released.

It was not immediately known if alcohol played a role.

Friends said Branch had three kids and worked hard to support his family.

"He went to work at 4 a.m. every morning," said his friend, only identified as "Cam." "He was a good dude, he didn't deserve that."

An investigation was ongoing.
