SWAT searches for armed man after blaze in Buena Park
A man with a rifle was spotted on a roof near where at least one person was burned in a fire in the 7700 block of 11th Street in Buena Park.

BUENA PARK, Calif. (KABC) -- Fire officials battled a residential fire after an explosion shook the neighborhood in the 7700 block of 11th Street in Buena Park, even as police searched for an armed man in the same area.

When firefighters responded to the fire report around 5:30 p.m., they saw a person pointing a rifle at them, police said. The SWAT team was deployed and other police agencies were brought in to assist.

The Buena Park Police Department warned residents to stay inside. The suspect, later identified by as Edgar Salazar, eventually surrendered and was taken into custody around 1:30 a.m. Monday, Buena Park police said.

"We are currently working a situation where individuals are reportedly in possession of firearms," the department said. "Stay inside, keep your doors and windows locked, and we will update you as the situation develops."

At least one burn victim was transported to a hospital. Police said no shots were fired. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
