Man struck, killed by hit-and-run driver in Garden Grove
Police on Monday were searching for a hit-and-run driver accused of striking and killing a 55-year-old pedestrian in Garden Grove.

GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (KABC) -- Police on Monday were searching for a hit-and-run driver accused of striking and killing a 55-year-old pedestrian in Garden Grove.

Officers from the Garden Grove Police Department arrived at the scene of the crash and found a man lying on the street at Chapman Avenue and Haster Street at about 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The victim was crossing southbound in the 12900 block of Chapman Avenue while pushing a shopping cart in an area not marked as a crosswalk, GGPD officials stated in a press release.

The man was then struck by what police believe was a white Nissan Maxima sedan with tinted windows. The victim died at the scene, authorities said.

The driver fled the crash and lost a side mirror, which was located near the collision.
