EAST HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A 70-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run in East Hollywood, and the victim's grieving daughter spoke out with an important message for the driver on Sunday.

Gabriela Futsi was walking home Saturday night, but never made it beyond the intersection of Fountain and Kenmore avenues.

Police said a white pickup truck hit Futsi and didn't stop. Paramedics rushed her to LAC+USC Medical Center.

"She was talking in the ER, she was alert, she knew I was there," said her daughter, Isabelle Futsi. "Which, I am so grateful for, you know, I was able to tell her that I loved her, and hold her hand and give her support."

Isabelle said doctors did everything they could, but the internal bleeding her mother suffered was too severe.

"My mom was a tough woman and they said that she really fought for her life... she really tried to tough it out," Isabelle shared.

Gabriela came to the U.S. from Romania, seeking political asylum when Isabelle was just 2 years old.

She didn't know English or anyone here, but made a new life for herself and her daughter.

Isabelle said her mother had Parkinson's disease, but was doing well. She had just turned 70 and looked forward to Christmas and seeing "The Nutcracker."

Grieving Isabelle said the driver who killed her mother is heartless and has no respect for human life.

"They took my mom from me unjustly and unfairly and way too early, and I want them to think about how they would feel if somebody in their family or somebody that they love was standing on that street and they just left them like roadkill," she explained.

Los Angeles police said they were looking into surveillance video in the area to help find the person responsible, and added the suspect vehicle should have front-end damage.

Family and friends created a GoFundMe page to help Isabelle pay for her mother's funeral. To donate, click here.
