THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (KABC) -- A mountain lion kitten spotted in the Santa Monica Mountains has researchers excited.
The kitten belongs to an adult mountain lion known as P-23.

In October, biologists believed P-23 gave birth to one kitten, but then they discovered a second.
Both were killed by another animal.

Now, biologists said this is P-23's third kitten, which has obviously survived.
Experts said the kitten is about 6-months-old now.
