DIAMOND BAR, Calif. (KABC) -- After authorities spent hours investigating how a couple was stabbed to death in their Diamond Bar home, the possibility of a murder-suicide was ruled out Friday.

The victims, a Chinese couple in their late 50s to early 60s, were found Thursday morning by a family friend conducting a welfare check.

Three people arrived at the home Friday afternoon, stepping inside and leaving after a few moments.

Neighbor Tony Lau lives next door to the couple and said the situation was "very sad."

Authorities said the couple lived alone and worked from home, teaching art classes to local students and neighborhood kids. Kevin Lu said his children were both students.

Lu rushed to the scene Thursday afternoon after hearing what happened to the couple.

"Friendly, never have any problems, arguments with them. They're just very, very friendly people," he said.

Detectives said someone spoke with the victims Wednesday evening, so they are trying to piece together what happened between then and Thursday morning.

A dog was found unharmed and no weapon was recovered from the house. Los Angeles County sheriff's homicide detectives looked into surveillance footage from cameras at the home and any in the neighborhood.

The investigation was ongoing.
