NORWALK, Calif. (KABC) -- A man who officials said claimed to have a grenade on him was detained at a Metrolink station in Norwalk on Monday.

A Norwalk transit bus driver called 911 at about 8 p.m. and said one of his passengers was armed with a grenade, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The bus driver and other passengers evacuated the bus as authorities rushed to the scene in the 12600 block of Imperial Highway.

Deputies eventually attempted to approach the suspect, who was lying face down on the ground next to the bus with his arms spread out.

When authorities in protective equipment approached the bus, the suspect stood up and waved his arms. Deputies then backed away from the scene.

Officials later instructed the suspect to take off all his clothes, one item at a time.

The suspect complied with the orders, stripped his clothes off and laid back down on the ground.

Authorities then approached the naked man from another angle minutes later and detained him without incident.
