Online date arrested for sexual assault
Investigators say a Chino man sexually assaulted and stole from at least five women he met through an online dating website.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- Investigators say a Chino man sexually assaulted and stole from at least five women he met through an online dating website, and there could be more victims.

Lisa Shrout says it started when she was on the dating website Zoosk. That's how she met the suspect, Chino resident Andrew Hernandez, 48, who told her he was a doctor.

"He told me he was a plastic surgeon. I was having a breast issue on my right side," said Shrout. "A few months ago we thought I had possible cancer issues going on."

So they met for lunch at a restaurant in Corona, then went shopping at Victoria's Secret.

At one point, she says, Hernandez even told her he could use his contacts to help her sell some of her property, including a diamond ring, a diamond necklace and earrings.

"The selling of just even one piece of my jewelry would have set me for quite a while," said Shrout.

She says that's when they went back to the house where she was staying and he offered to perform an examination on her breast.

"I didn't have any reason to believe he wasn't who he said he was. He came in, he examined me, had pictures," said Shrout.

Then, she says, it got worse and says he sexually assaulted her.

"I said, 'Hey, you need to stop that, I am not comfortable,' I immediately jumped up off the floor, pulled my thing back on and I walked out," said Shrout.

She says she didn't realize it at the time, but he left with her jewelry.

"I feel stupid, you know, I feel completely violated," said Shrout.

It turns out he was also arrested a year ago for allegedly stealing $10,000 in rare silver coins. In that case, he failed to show up for court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

As for what allegedly happened to Shrout, Hernandez was arrested two days ago.

"He was using dating websites to contact his victims, so we do believe there might be additional people out there," said a Riverside County Sheriff's Department spokesman.

Shrout says the police haven't been able to recover her jewelry, but she's relieved the suspect is behind bars.

"You know, jewelry -- I can die tomorrow and not take it with me, but I have to take with me what he did to me. That's a violation, I thought he was a doctor, my God," said Shrout.

One of the alleged victims in this case is Shrout's own daughter, who says she was inappropriately touched by the suspect. The department said one additional charge of misdemeanor sexual battery has been added because of that allegation.

Anyone with information related to the suspect is asked to call the Riverside County Sheriff's Department at (951) 245-3357.
