Overturned truck catches fire, causes traffic backup on 605 Fwy
The driver of a big rig was arrested after the vehicle overturned and caught fire on the northbound 605 Freeway, blocking all but one lane in Bassett Thursday night, the CHP said.

BASSETT, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A big rig carrying noodles that overturned and caught fire on the northbound 605 Freeway blocked all lanes but the carpool lane in Bassett Thursday night, the California Highway Patrol said.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI, authorities said.

The accident was reported at 7:52 p.m. at the Valley Boulevard exit in Bassett, an unincorporated area in Los Angeles County.

The truck, filled with packaged noodles, was coming from the 60 Freeway onto the northbound 605 Freeway. At some point, the vehicle went sideways, landed on its left side and skidded across the lanes. The cabin caught fire, but the load was not damaged.

Authorities said the driver got out without any injury, no other vehicles were involved and no one else was hurt.

Massive traffic congestion built up behind the accident scene, while crews worked to clean up the mess.
