PALMS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An Inglewood man was arrested Friday night in connection to a shooting spree in Palms, which left one man dead and four others injured.

James Pickens, 35, was booked into jail on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and is being held in lieu of $1 million.

The shootings began around 3 p.m. Thursday at a park near Woodbine Street and Mentone Avenue. One person was killed and the other was taken to a local hospital. The man killed has been identified as 27-year-old Justin Aguilar.

The second shooting happened about a block away at Regent Street and Clarington Avenue. One victim was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Several blocks away at a 7-Eleven near National Place and Overland Avenue, two more victims were found.

Two of the three non-critical victims were released after receiving treatment at the hospital.

It is unclear what prompted the incidents or if they were gang-related. An investigation is ongoing.
