VENTURA, Calif. (KABC) -- Ventura police officers are searching for a car involved in a felony hit-and-run that left a 47-year-old woman in serious condition Thursday night.
At 5:09 p.m., the Ventura Police Command Center received several 911 calls reporting a traffic accident involving a car and a pedestrian at the intersection of E. Main Street and S. Mills Road. When officers arrived, they found a 47-year-old woman suffering from multiple serious injuries.
The woman was treated at the scene by Ventura County Fire personnel and was transported to Ventura County Medical Center by ambulance in serious condition, police said.
During the investigation, officers found out that the driver of the car was traveling eastbound on Main Street, ran a red light and hit the woman as she was crossing the street. Before fleeing the scene, the driver hit the woman again and was last seen entering the eastbound Highway 126 on-ramp, police said.
The car is described as an older-model white Ford Ranger pick-up truck with a lumber rack. Anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to call the Ventura Police Department Traffic Unit at (805) 339-4323.
