Santa Paula helicopter crash leaves 1 dead

SANTA PAULA, Calif. (KABC) -- One person was killed in a helicopter crash in Santa Paula on Friday.



The crash happened near the 900 block of Corporation Street. According to Ian Gregor with the FAA Pacific Division, the helicopter went down around 10:30 a.m. in a dry river bed, about 3 miles west of Santa Paula Airport.



Ventura County Fire Department crews are searching for any additional victims.



The crash sparked a small spot fire and knocked out power lines.



A cause for the crash was not immediately known. The FAA and NTSB will investigate, Gregor said.
