BUENA PARK, Calif. (KABC) -- A shooting suspect was found dead inside a Buena Park home early Wednesday morning after an hours-long SWAT operation.

It all started Tuesday around 7:30 p.m. when a man called Buena Park police saying that someone who lives at his home shot him. A SWAT team surrounded the home near 10th Street and Kingman Avenue.

The victim was taken to UCI Medical Center in critical but stable condition.

SWAT officers tried for hours to get in touch with the suspect but were not able to do so. They eventually entered the home around 3:11 a.m. and found the suspect dead with a gunshot wound to the chest. No one else was inside the home at the time.

Some residences in the 6600 block of Kingman Avenue were evacuated.

Neighbor Diane Macias said she heard what sounded like two gunshots and someone yelling that "Larry" had shot him and asking for someone to call 911.

Macias said after she called 911, she heard a third gunshot.

The victim and suspect were not identified. The relationship between the two was not clear.
