Shots fired in Pico Rivera Chuck E. Cheese parking lot; no injuries

PICO RIVERA, Calif. (KABC) -- No one was hurt after gunfire broke out in the parking lot of a Chuck E. Cheese in Pico Rivera Sunday night.

Police surrounded the Chuck E. Cheese in the 6000 block of Rosemead Boulevard after receiving reports of gunfire around 8 p.m.

The sheriff's department said at least a dozen shots were fired. Frightened parents and children were inside when the bullets pierced the windows. They streamed out of the building when police arrived.

Authorities said the shots were fired in at least two directions. Two cars in the parking lot were hit.

Sylvia Monge was attending her 7-year-old daughter's birthday party when the gunfire erupted.

"We didn't see anything. We just heard all this cracking noise," said Monge.

Monge added that her daughter reported feeling something fly past her arm. Monge suspected it was a bullet that nearly missed her.

Authorities believe more than one shooter may have been involved. The suspects remain on the loose. An investigation is ongoing.
