Small explosions at business spark fire in Santa Fe Springs

SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif. (KABC) -- Small explosions at a commercial warehouse sparked a four-alarm fire in Santa Fe Springs on Saturday, police said.

The fire broke out in the 12900 block of Sunshine Avenue at about 4 p.m. Saturday and was knocked down by 11 p.m.

There were flammable liquids inside the warehouse, according to the Santa Fe Springs Fire Department. The fire department was on scene. Units from Downey, Vernon and the Los Angeles County Fire Department assisted in the fire fight.

"I literally could see cans flying up in the air. It was pretty amazing to hear the explosions," witness Terry Dietz said.

Eyewitness News viewers reported seeing the smoke in Whittier, Long Beach, Boyle Heights, Hollywood and Buena Park.

No injuries were reported and no evacuations were necessary.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
