SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A pedestrian was struck early Sunday morning by flying debris from a crash in South Los Angeles.

The accident happened at 2 a.m. at Normandie Avenue and 52nd Street. The driver allegedly lost control of his car and crashed into a street sign and fence, police said.

The pedestrian was transported to a hospital and the driver later complained of pain.

Authorities believe speed was a factor based on the skid marks, but the exact cause is under investigation.
