Surveillance video catches burglars stealing mail, ransacking cars
Surveillance video caught two burglars ransacking mailboxes and vehicles inside an apartment building near Beverly Center.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Two suspects broke into an apartment building near Beverly Center and ransacked mailboxes and vehicles.

Surveillance video of the burglary released by police on Monday shows the two suspects prying open the apartment door at about 3 a.m. May 11 in the 100 block of North Wetherly Drive. They go straight for the mailboxes, stuffing all the envelopes into bags.

The suspects then moved onto the parking structure, looking for unlocked cars with items in plain view, but they trigger the alarm on an SUV and take off before they're caught.

"We're worried about the identity theft issue." LAPD Lt. John Janel said.

Police are hoping someone recognizes the suspects before they target another apartment building and its tenants.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Los Angeles Police Department.
