Victorville woman flees with 2 kids after allegedly murdering husband

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (KABC) -- Investigators are searching for a woman who they say murdered her husband in Victorville and then fled with the couple's two daughters.

Sheriff's deputies from the Victorville Police Department conducted a welfare check at the couple's home in the 13700 block of Brynwood Street around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday after the victim, 34-year-old Antione Smith, missed several days of work.

"His fellow coworkers were concerned he had not come to work for a few days and they stated that was unlike his behavior, and they were concerned for his wellbeing," said Jodi Miller, a spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

Upon arrival, deputies found his body inside the bedroom of the residence. During the later investigation, detectives identified the victim's wife, 33-year-old Leticia Smith, as a suspect.

"An arrest warrant has been issued for Leticia Smith," Miller said.

According to neighbor Osvaldo Macias, Leticia Smith was a battered woman.

"They did have a lot of domestic violence over there. My honest opinion, she finally flipped," Macias said.

Investigators believe Leticia Smith fled the residence with the couple's two daughters, 8-year-old Isabel and 4-year-old Abigail. She may be driving a 2010 four-door silver Honda Accord with CA license plate 7FBT742.

Anyone with information on Leticia Smith's whereabouts and her two children were urged to call 911 or sheriff's dispatch at (760) 956-5001.
