Surveillance video shows hit-and-run crash that injured woman, 5-year-old grandson
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Authorities are asking for the public's help tracking down a hit-and-run driver who slammed into a woman and her young grandson in Los Angeles last week.
The incident happened on Jan. 7 around 7:45 a.m. near Beverly Boulevard and Robinson Street.
Surveillance video shows 5-year-old Alvin Fuentes and his grandmother, 48-year-old Emma Cermeno, crossing Beverly Boulevard when they were struck by a gray Lincoln Navigator.
The boy remains hospitalized at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Not only was his liver lacerated, he's also recovering from serious eye injuries and a broken jaw. His grandmother suffered a broken arm.
"The impact was felt by this driver. From the video, we could see the tail lights went on, the brake lights were activated, so this person knows they hit someone or something," said LAPD Det. Felix Padilla.
Police went door to door on Thursday to hand out fliers, hoping someone would recognize the SUV involved.
