Woman shot to death at Baldwin Park market; man wounded
A woman was shot to death by her estranged husband, who then turned the gun on himself, police said.

BALDWIN PARK, Calif. (KABC) -- A woman was shot in the head at a local market in Baldwin Park Wednesday morning, police said.

Authorities responded to La Blanquita Market in the 13800 block of Los Angeles Street at 8:14 a.m. The female victim was declared dead at the scene.

The woman's estranged husband was transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Police say the man's injuries were self-inflicted, and the incident is being investigated as a attempted murder-suicide.

Authorities say the couple lived in El Monte and had four children together. They were going through a messy separation, officials said, and he had a restraining order against the wife.

Customers at the market said the victim worked as a cook at the store.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department at (323) 890-5500.
