Woman wearing ankle monitor arrested for stealing package in Moreno Valley

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- A woman appearing to wear an ankle monitor while stealing a package from a Moreno Valley home was arrested.

Surveillance video caught the crime that took place Wednesday morning, and by Thursday, officials with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said the woman had been identified.

The suspect was spotted getting out of the passenger side door of a vehicle in front of a home on Roja Street.

The woman approached the home, grabbed a giant package that was sitting on the porch, and ran back to the waiting vehicle.

It appeared the woman was wearing an ankle monitor on her left leg during the incident.

The suspect was perhaps a bit disappointed because the homeowners said there was only dog food inside the package.

The homeowner reported to ABC7 that suspect had been taken into custody. The suspect, who was on house arrest, will now spend the rest of her time in jail.
