Bear smacks Santa Claus near Glendora home
A bear wandering around Glendora ended up hitting a Santa Claus decoration while searching for food.

GLENDORA, Calif. (KABC) -- This Christmas, one bear won't be receiving a gift from Santa Claus.

Robert Martinez of Glendora caught a bear on camera smacking Old Saint Nick. Martinez uses several cameras around his home to monitor wildlife in his area.

"I just wanted to put something that wasn't normal for the animals to see and see how they might react to it," Martinez said.

Recently, he put up a miniature Santa to see how animals would interact with the jolly man. He hides the cameras and has recorded cubs, deer and mountain lions.

He said the mountain lions gave Santa the cold shoulder, but this bear seemed to be drawn to the human scent all over the stuffed Kris Kringle.

In the video footage, a bear is seen sniffing around, possibly looking for food near the decoration. With no luck, the bear instead slaps Santa. It looks like the bear will be on the naughty list this year.
