THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (KABC) -- At Conejo Valley Veterinary Hospital in Thousand Oaks, he's simply known as Dr. Evan Antin. But People magazine recently gave him a new title: "Sexiest Beast Charmer" alive.
Antin was featured in the Sexiest Man Alive issue in the Men at Work section.
"I thought it was pretty funny. I've always strived to be the sexiest something, and so I'm glad it could be a vet," Antin said jokingly.
Julie Torrey didn't know about the new title when she brought in her chinchillas for an appointment. She laughed after she found out.
"I think that's awesome that we got him today!" she said.
In the last year and a half, Antin has made a home in Thousand Oaks after years of schooling and traveling.
He's traveled to six different continents to help animals and has documented his journeys on his YouTube page.
He's helped elephants, orangutans, dragons, and so many other types of animals, but his favorites are snakes and crocodiles.
"It started with fear like that's such a weird animal and then it turned into this fascination," Antin said.
Once, a cobra spat venom in his face. When asked if he ever gets scared, Antin answered "without a doubt!"
In addition to traveling, Antin does modeling on the side. He's also previously worked as a personal trainer.
As for the question of whether the 30-year-old is married, the answer is no, but he is engaged.
"Off the market unfortunately, but she's a special girl so I'm really happy," Antin said.
Even though you can't ask him out, he encourages everyone to ask him animal-related questions. Just recently, he started a Q&A blog on the Conejo Valley Happening website.
