RIALTO, Calif. (KABC) -- A Rialto Unified School District high school teacher is behind bars, accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student during and after school hours.

Barry Noden, 57, of Calimesa, was arrested Thursday. He pleaded not guilty to seven counts: two counts of sexual penetration with a foreign object of a victim under 18 years old; one count of oral copulation involving a person under 18 years old; two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor; one count of distributing pornography to a minor; and one count of contact with a minor for a sexual offense, according to court documents.

Rialto police became aware of Noden almost a year ago, when officers were called to Eisenhower High School at 1321 N. Lilac Avenue regarding a report that a teacher was having inappropriate sexual contact with a minor student.

Through their investigation, detectives learned that Noden allegedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old female student.

Rialto police said detectives carried out an extensive investigation that included analyzing numerous pieces of evidence. The investigation was subsequently forwarded to the district attorney's office for filing, and an arrest warrant was issued for Noden, who turned himself in Thursday.

Noden remains in the West Valley Detention Center on $475,000 bail. His next court appearance is slated for Feb. 22.
