Colorful streetside piano outside Pasadena music studio stolen
A classical concert pianist and teacher is singing the blues after a piano she placed outside her Pasadena studio as part of a community art project disappeared.

PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- A colorful, upright piano that once graced a Pasadena parkway has disappeared.

"My heart just totally sank when I saw that it wasn't here anymore," piano teacher Cindy Lam said.

The Pasadena piano teacher and her young students set up the piano outside her music studio on the 100 block of Waverly Drive just a few days ago. Her idea was to bring the community together by letting passersby tickle the ivories.

Her students took a liking to the piano and turned it into an art installation, complete with the students' version of Van Gogh's "Starry Night." But now their beloved instrument is gone.

Lam and her students left a sign in its place asking for the piano back.
