19-year-old waitress stunned to receive $2,000 tip

Many restaurant customers like to show their gratitude towards servers by leaving a big tip. But one customer went above and beyond by leaving a $2,000 tip on a $278 meal check.

Loran Lopez, 19, is a student at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith and also a part-time waitress at Logan's Roadhouse. Lopez was working the lunch shift on Tuesday when a regular customer entered the restaurant with a friend.

"I've seen her in there before but I've never spoken to her, Lopez told ABC News. "I've always heard about her tipping well, but I've never experienced it myself until this time."

Lopez finished serving the customer and went enter her tip to the computer. It was then that Lopez looked at the check and was stunned to see a $2,000 tip on top of her $278.55 bill.

"I couldn't talk for a good two minutes...I sat there and stared at it. I couldn't believe what happened," Lopez said.

The customer was still in the restaurant, and went over to give Lopez a hug during her moment of shock.

"I thanked her a million times," Lopez said. "She said, 'I know I don't have to tip, there's no gun pointing at my head, it's something that I want to do for people.' She used to be a waitress, too, so she just likes to give back."

The tipper, who asked to remain private, is a regular at Logan's Roadhouse and has given several big tips to servers there and at other restaurants.

"She thinks waitresses deserve more than what they're getting," Lopez said. "She's so generous."

Lopez plans on using the money to pay for college expenses.

"It's a blessing...I'm very grateful for what she did. I didn't expect it at all."
