DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- With recreational marijuana set to become legal in California in just a few months, this year's Cannabis World Congress and Business Expo was bigger than ever.

If you live in California and you love marijuana, then one date is seared into your brain: Jan. 1, 2018.

That is the day recreational pot use becomes legal in the state, and plenty of people are already mapping out ways to cash in on canna-business.

Dan Humiston is behind Thursday's event, which was being held at the Los Angeles Convention Center in downtown Los Angeles.

The expo isn't just your average pot convention. Attendees will find professionally dressed business people focusing on the growing marijuana industry.

More than 200 cannabis-related companies set up booths to push their pot products to the public, including pot paper, pot shampoo and even pot pet treats.

If you're interested in cannabis but don't want it in your mouth or your lungs, you can try high milligram suppositories.

"We're really here for a shameless plug," said Lily Colley of Incredibles, which is coming out with the product.

The advent of legalized pot will certainly bring with it a lot of questions, and that's where Mary Jane University comes in. The company offers product reviews, sampling and demonstrations for those interested in learning more about the plant.

The Cannabis World Congress and Business Expo is running through Friday.
