A hot sausage with Skittles in it doesn't sound too appetizing, but a butcher located near Seattle has now had "Beast Mode Sausage" flying out of the display case for a year.

When the Seattle Seahawks made the Super Bowl last year, Blue Max Meats owners Tommy Marshall and Evan Greco came up with the idea to put running back Marshawn Lynch's favorite candy into a sausage and sell it, but they didn't think it would catch on.

"We originally did it to put our name on the map, but we've kind of become a destination," Marshall said. "Not a day goes by where we don't sell it."

Although the idea at first sounds disgusting, Marshall says it works. By the time it's cooked, the spice from the sausage mixes well with the baked-in sweet Skittles.

On the year, Marshall estimates the shop located in Puyallup, about 30 miles south of Seattle, has gone through about 1,000 pounds of the rainbow candy.

Marshall said Lynch hasn't been in to try the staple, but he hasn't opposed using the name either.

Lynch owns four trademarks to the "Beast Mode" phrase and has filed for three more with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
