Hundreds rally outside LA Memorial Coliseum to bring Rams back

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Hundreds of fans rallied outside the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday to bring the St. Louis Rams back to Los Angeles just days before the National Football League teams owners meet.

Former Rams players, staff and cheerleaders attended the "2016 Bring Back our Los Angeles Rams Rally" from 9 a.m. until noon at the place where the Rams used to play from 1946 to 1994.

Former L.A. Rams player Kermit Alexander joined the rally as he has been fighting to bring his former team home.

"I think it's been a long time coming. The Rams need to be back in L.A.," he said. "I grew up with the Rams and played ball at UCLA, and the Rams were my favorite team, so for them to leave, it was a slap in the face. I'll be glad when they get back."

At the same event, San Diego Chargers fans took to the skies with a banner flying over the L.A. Coliseum that read: "L.A. loves the Chargers. WeChargeLA.com."

On Tuesday, the Rams, San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders each submitted to the NFL applications to relocate to Los Angeles.

The applications will be presented for consideration at a league meeting in Houston on Jan. 12-13.
