LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The Los Angeles Kings have been fined $100,000 by the NHL after suspended defenseman Slava Voynov skated during team practice on Tuesday.

Voynov was arrested on Oct. 20 and charged with felony domestic violence in November. He pleaded not guilty on Monday.

The two-time Stanley Cup champ was suspended with pay by the NHL immediately following his arrest.

Under the terms of his suspension, Voynov is barred from all team activities.

The NHL said Voynov took the ice and skated with his teammates on Tuesday at the Kings' training complex for their morning skate before their game against the Boston Bruins.

Voynov also participated in what the team claimed was an optional workout.

The 24-year-old is allowed to use the team's workout facilities by himself during his suspension and is also allowed to skate after team practice as long as he's supervised by an assistant coach.

The Kings released a statement Tuesday afternoon in response to the fine.

"This was clearly a mistake on our part and we accept full responsibility. It is incumbent upon us to be more vigilant in managing this situation to ensure that Slava's allowable training activities always remain separate from the team."
