Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram sit out Lakers' practice

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Lonzo Ball (mild ankle sprain) and Brandon Ingram (head) did not practice on Tuesday and their statuses will be updated before the Los Angeles Lakers play the Denver Nuggetsin a preseason game Wednesday.

Ball landed on the foot of Denver point guard Emmanuel Mudiaynear the end of the first half on Monday. He started the second half but came away with a mild left ankle sprain.

Ingram bumped heads with Malik Beasley in the fourth quarter Monday. He was evaluated by Lakers team doctor Dr. Daniel Vigil on Tuesday and has been diagnosed with a head contusion. He will be re-evaluated Wednesday and is questionable to face Denver.

"I don't think Lonzo's is anything too serious," Lakers coach Luke Walton said. "But since it's preseason, we gave him the day off to make sure his ankle's right and he'll get re-evaluated tomorrow. He had treatment all day today."

Lakers forward Larry Nance Jr.did not practice and is considered day-to-day after X-rays on his sprained right index finger were negative. Brook Lopez (back) and Josh Hart (hamstring) went through a full practice, as did Andrew Bogut, who is making his way back after waiting for his visa to be approved.

The Lakers have a shootaround on Wednesday before playing the Nuggets again in Ontario, California. While the Lakers may want to play it safe with both of their No. 2 overall picks from the past two seasons, Ball has said he will play if he can.

"That's all medical stuff," Walton said on what will determine Ball's status for playing. "It's my job as a coach to coach who we have available. We'll have a plan for if he doesn't play; we'll have a plan for if he does."
