MMA fighter Justin Wren helps Pygmy people in Africa

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Mixed marital artist Justin Wren fulfilled a dream by becoming a professional fighter, but even with his wild success, he battled depression and drug addiction.

Five years ago, he felt something was missing and that he had a bigger purpose in life. He decided to travel to the Congo.

"I had a vision and I know that can sound crazy, I know that can sound out there. I saw myself in the Congo, I saw myself in the forest," he said. "I didn't know it was the Congo, I didn't know who the people were, but it led me on a path to find them and 100 percent of that vision came true."

Wren told a friend about his vision and he was told those people were the Pygmy people. He traveled out there and witnessed their suffering.

Witnessing their pain first hand prompted Wren to help them. Since then he has gotten 2,470 acres of land, drilled 25 water wells and started a farming project in three of 10 villages he is working with.
