Ogwumike scores career-high 38, Sparks beat Dream 84-75

LOS ANGELES -- Nneka Ogwumike had a career-high 38 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks to help the Los Angeles Sparks beat the Atlanta Dream 84-75 on Thursday.

Ogwumike, the league leader in field-goal percentage at 68.3 percent, was 13 of 14 from the field and 12 of 14 at the free throw line.

After Atlanta pulled to 76-73 with 2 minutes left, Ogwumike made a layup and had a block on the Dream's next possession. She sealed it with six straight free throws in the final minute.

Candace Parker added 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists for Los Angeles (15-1), which is top-ranked in the AP power poll.

Tiffany Hayes scored a career-high 32 points for fifth-ranked Atlanta (8-8), which has lost five in a row. Elizabeth Williams had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Angel McCoughtry, the second-leading scorer in the WNBA at 20.1 points per game, was held to nine points.
