Steven Gerrard has confirmed that he held talks with MK Dons about becoming the manager of theLeague One club.
ESPN FC and other outlets had reported last week that there had been "early" discussions between the two parties after Gerrard announced he was not returning to the LA Galaxy.
But the former Liverpool and England midfielder said it was not the right time for him to take the vacant position.
"I spoke to them [MK Dons]. I had a chat with the chairman, I think it's a very exciting job for someone else," Gerrard told BT Sport.
"But it's a bit soon for me, but it is true I did speak to them yes."
Gerrard added that he was not in a rush to find his next landing spot after completing a year and a half in Major League Soccer, though he did say he liked what he saw with the Galaxy, who are now also without a coach after Bruce Arena took the United States job.
"It was very enjoyable," Gerrard said. "Unfortunately we never won the MLS this season. We got to the semifinals and got knocked out on penalties, so slightly disappointed with how it finished, but it was still very enjoyable.
"I'm taking a bit of time to consider what's next. Exciting times moving forward."
