LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Gas prices jumped up sharply in Los Angeles as the summer travel season approaches.
The average price of regular gas rose more than 11 cents a gallon overnight into Friday. That's $3.76 cents a gallon, according to AAA.
Some gas stations have even crossed the $4 mark.
Earlier this year, Los Angeles drivers were enjoying prices that dropped to the mid-$2 range, a low not seen in the region in about six years.
Experts blame the increases on Southern California refinery issues.
"The Exxon Mobile refinery in Torrance has been down for a couple months and is expected to continue being repaired for quite a few more weeks," said Jeffrey Spring with AAA.
