Summer heat continues in SoCal, with slight thunderstorm chances in mountains and deserts

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Southern California will continue to experience hot weather Friday and through the weekend, with temperatures reaching the 90s in many areas and some parts in the triple digits.

There is also a chance of thunderstorms in mountain and desert communities Friday and again next week due to heat and moisture. ABC7 has issued a Weather Change Alert for Friday in those areas because of a 10% chance of thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the stretch of hot temperatures is expected to continue into next week.

Los Angeles and Orange counties will see plenty of sunshine with conditions in the low 90s for the next several days.

The valleys and Inland Empire Friday and through the weekend can expect temperatures in the upper 90s, with some parts hitting triple digits. Conditions could get a little hotter next week.

Beach communities will see morning clouds followed by afternoon sunshine Friday. Expect a high of 80 degrees and a low of 69.

Mountain areas have a 10% chance of thunderstorms Friday, with a high of 85 and a low of 55. Conditions are expected to clear over the weekend before thunderstorm chances return early next week.

Desert areas Friday can expect a slight chance of thunderstorms, with a high of 101 and a low of 74. Palm Springs is expected to reach 112 degrees. Weekend conditions will see similar temperatures, but clear skies are on tap.
